The Bible and The Shield - "Blessed are the peacemakers..." Matt.5:9
Psalm 23:  The Lord is my shepherd.
Shepherding is still a way of life in Israel and it's common to see a shepherd walking ahead of the sheep leading the way.  He leads the way so if something dangerous lies ahead the shepherd faces it first.  The sheep don't have to worry about where they are going.  They simply follow in safety.Psalm 23 reminds me that our concerns and well-being are in God's hands as our Shepherd and we "have all that (we) need" (v.1).  Psalm 23 is all about the Shepherd and most of the responsibility is on Him and not us.  We follow as He shows the way.  This doesn't mean that we will avoid all trouble in life, but during such times we have no reason to fear because the Good Shepherd is with us.  We need to stop believing we have to be the shepherd because God is the only Shepherd we will ever need.

Man of God  1 Timothy 6:11-16, 20-21

In Paul's letter to Timothy, he didn't instruct Timothy to be an A-list pastor.  He reminded him that he was a "man of God".  Interestingly, Timothy is the only person in the New Testament who's called "a man of God".  The term is used 70 times in the Old Testament in reference to someone whose duty and responsibility is to speak the words of God.  According to Paul, there are four characteristics of a man of God:
* He flees.  The man of God is a man on the run constantly fleeing the love of money, ungodly behavior, lust and sin.
*  He follows after.  The man of God pursues "righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance and gentleness"
*  He fights.  Using the truth, he is in a daily spiritual warfare against a kingdom of darkness.
*  He's faithful.  The man of God views faithful Christian living and service as a necessary responsibility to God.

What would you like to be?  I pray that God will help you to be a man of God.  I pray that He will help me to be a man of God.

From Regina Franklin's "Personality or Precept?"
1 Cor 3:1-23   Don't boast about following a particular human leader.  For everything belongs to you...and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God(v. 21-23).
Our hope does not rest in technology or the words of man, but in the living Word.
We need to challenge one another to make sure our eyes are on the Source and not the messengers.
Our efforts should be for His glory and not for our own (v. 11-15).

"The chief danger of the 20th Century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and Heaven without Hell."      William Booth (1829 - 1912)

Praising God for His ongoing blessings for this servant.  On 1/22/14 I was asked to serve as the Florida State Director for the American Police Chaplain's Association.  Please continue to keep this ministry and police Chaplains in your prayers.

Billy Graham:  "Our society strives to avoid any possibility of offending anyone - except God."  History has proven as the church goes, so goes society.  The Scriptures prove that we of law enforcement are ordained by God, beginning in Genesis through Revelation 20:1 where angelic police arrest Satan.

Continue to pray for our safety on the streets.  "Never, never, never give up" (Winston Churchill). "No amount of law enforcement can solve a problem that goes back to the family" (J. Edgar Hoover).

Troubled times call for courage.  Psalm 91 is about God's protection and in Ex. 14:15b God tells Moses "to move on".  If you're troubled, have courage for God protects you so move on!!

Ephesians 5:8   I used to be afraid of the dark until I learned that I AM THE LIGHT and the darkness is afraid of me.

In our God-ordained position, the things evil we encounter makes it  difficult to give thanks.  Remember God gives us opportunities to make a difference in peoples lives. Give thanks, be thankful for what you do.  Stay blessed and be safe.  Happy Thaksgiving to you & yours!

Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, our ever-present help in trouble."
